The “last supper” was also the first. Jesus, on the eve of His death, celebrated the Passover with His Jewish disciples but used it as a sacred segue to the memorial of the TRUE Passover. The ancient feast of the Jews not only pointed back to their deliverance from Egypt but also forward to Christ who would be the ultimate Passover lamb whose blood would mark the house of God for deliverance from the condemnation of sin. Therefore, there are powerful lessons and principles found in the Passover that teach us about the pattern and importance of the Lord’s Supper.
