When Philip’s work in the city of Samaria was complete, the Lord whisked him away for an important meeting divinely arranged along a rural road. God’s providence is clearly witnessed as the evangelist meets an African dignitary along the Gaza road. When Philip met the man, he found him reading a scroll of the prophecy of Isaiah and was invited to explain the prophet’s words to him. Philip began at the same scripture and preached Jesus to the Ethiopian nobleman. Suddenly, the man orders his chariot to stop and he and the preacher climb down out of the chariot to attend to an urgent transaction. As we continue the series ‘Jesus Saves’ from the book of Acts, we pose the question: Why Stop The Chariot?
